Lara is an experienced bankruptcy attorney who joined 9fin in September 2025 from the DOJ's US Trustee Program where she served as policy & communications specialist in the executive office. After 14 years in practice at Pillsbury Winthrop and Togut, Segal & Segal in NYC and as a law clerk to Bankruptcy Judge Stuart Bernstein in the SDNY, Lara pivoted to writing about bankruptcy law for ten years as a senior specialist legal editor for Thomson Reuters' Practical Law Bankruptcy & Restructuring service. Lara graduated from Brooklyn Law School where she served as a law review editor and from Mount Holyoke College.
